Tracking Horror 😱

I've come to notice something. But before I tell you what it is, let me just say,
It's the end of day 2!
Yes! I'm counting. It feels like time will just fly by and before you know it, it's day 50.
But truth be told, I've never held a challenge for myself for this long.
A week, fine.
30 days, peachy!
But 61 whole days...that's a definite stretch.
And I'm already facing problems.
I've forgotten what I said I was going to tell you. I'll probably remember later.
Tracking time is hard though!
Oh yes! I remember now...it relates to tracking time.
What I've come to notice is that I usually think I need a lot of sophistication to carry out a task or do something.
Let me explain.
Recently I got into time tracking. Which simply means tracking the time I spend on activities I do.
I decided to track 3 hours of my morning/afternoon today.
That is from 10am to 1pm. 3 hours.
I used this app called aTimelogger to set a timer for each activity and I customized some predefined activities.
I also had a to-do list on this app called Colornote.
I also set up my habits lists on an app called Habit.
If you think these names are made up, check them out on Google Play Store.
Anyways I became overwhelmed. Why?
Because I would switch between 3 tabs to set up a timer or tick a completed activity.
Most of the time, the timer would start and I haven't started the activity.
It's probably me. But I snapped.
Something else happened.
I don't usually know how long I will spend on an activity and sometimes I end up spending less time than I set for it.
With the extra time, I would look for another unplanned activity to do, just to fill up the remaining time.
Don't know if that made sense but that was what happened.
I completed all set activities and crossed off my checklist but ended up deleting aTimelogger.
That was after I noticed that Habit had a time tracking setting as well.
Problem is, I can't sync my progress on Habit with my google account. That means that when I have the app on another phone, all my habit progress will be lost as well.
I would have to start over.
But I've fallen in love with Habit.
My point is, I didn't need aTimelogger in the first place. I was already using Colornote to store all my drafts and notes. It's not so good for checklisting (for me though)
I usually prefer a pen and paper but I decided to switch things up a bit.
I'm still learning anyways.
One thing I've come to learn is that TIME IS CURRENCY.
How you spend it matters. If you don't know how to track your spending, you would probably be in loss at some point.
And that is what I'm trying to do.
Track my spending.
Right now, it's random activities but I just want to get the hang of the tracking process itself.
I will redownload aTimelogger in the future.
In my opinion, it's best for tracking a specific set of tasks over a period of time with analytic features.
Habit, does the same but contains the whole enchilada.
Check it out for yourself and see what I mean.
That's it for my first time with tracking.
Overwhelming but I think the horror headline was a bit of a drag. Forgive me.
I'll get the hang of it and eventually build those habits, time tracking included.
Till next time, my friend.
Keep learning 😊
PS: I fixed the sync problem with Habit by simply switching to another google account.
I'm definitely sticking with it now :)
