Feel The Fear, Do It Anyway
Feel the fear, do it anyway.
That's what I did, Ami
I ended the day with a decision.
A decision to face uncomfortable situations. To do something I've never done since high school: put myself out there...in the real world.
What prompted me? A podcast.
Yes!....I'm doing things because someone says I should.
Not really tho....but now that I think about it, if the person has achieved success in any area, I should listen to that person, right?
It's like having your own business or personal development coach...for free!
And the person I listened to this time was Leila Hormozi from acquisition.com.
I think it was the third or fourth episode of the podcast....I can't remember...
She was telling her story....how she lived in her twenties and mentioned something about building self confidence.
She confirmed that facing uncomfortable situations is a good way to build yourself.
And it got me thinking....hours later, I thought of practice...practice for what I was learning....copywriting but most importantly, marketing and sales.
Because, in my opinion, every copywriting should know about marketing and sales to properly understand copywriting.
Why? because the concepts are the same.
So I thought of applying what I'm currently learning (marketing strategies....also copywriting) to a business in the real world.
My dad got back and I decided to talk to him about it.
I was scared...heart pounding and all....
But I told myself, "it's now or never".
I went to his room and as we discussed, the fear disappeared. I explained what I wanted to do: work on trial for a month with a local bakery in my area....for free.
'This girl is nuts!' You may be thinking but I'm doing it mainly for the experience.
It's actually a win-win.
If they get results, I gain experience.
If the strategies I come up with for them don't work, they don't lose in anyway.
Neither do I.
And a bakery?
Well, it's the only business I know in the area...I don't really go out much.
It's not bad either...every business wants more customers, right?
So my job is to help with their marketing....simply creating demand for their products and services.
And I gain experience along the way...which will be useful in the long run.
I still have to talk with the owner tho.
My dad agreed to it after my explanation.
Fingers crossed, Ami.
I hope it all goes well.
And my weekly activities...they won't be affected....hopefully not 😐
All this happened because of a podcast episode...or rather, me deciding to listen to podcasts.. which are a very good way to learn.
I've had a lot of video learning in the past six months and I decided to switch....deleted YouTube from my phone before my challenge started and haven't looked back since then.
That's it, Ami.
I hope your week went well...if it didn't, things will always get better.
I can't tell you how to act because I'm still figuring things out myself.
But, one thing I've always known is that struggle makes you stronger and it's in the journey to reach a goal that you get the reward itself.
I lied...😑
I learned that today, from Leila's podcast.
Au revoir, Ami 👋
PS: The name of the podcast is 'Build with Leila Hormozi'. It's on Spotify (don't know where else it is) and I started with the very first episode.
