Another Lazy Day
Today ended with a few realizations.
1. I do better work when a deadline is involved.
2. I'm a pen and paper person.
How I came to realize?
I stood outside few minutes ago and recorded myself talking...I was just blabbing about how my day went (not bad or good...).
Let me tell you how I came to this final thoughts....
Two months ago, a friend and I started a project....a detective fiction story.
We went over the basic details...like the title, theme, characters and so on.
And we developed the plot outline.
Then came the most important task....drafting the story.
I was into affiliate marketing then...so I set a writing plan and deadline for the completion of the draft.
Along the way, I encountered difficulties...with the other things I had to do...responsibilities at home...
At some point, I stopped drafting but the deadline hadn't arrived then.
I messaged my friend and asked if he could finish the final chapters...that I couldn't finish the story...(I was drafting on my phone...chapter by chapter)
The next day, I stared at the writing plan I had written on paper, and the deadline stared me in the face.
"It's just a couple of chapters left...why can't you finish it?" The thought flashed.
My friend had said he could try to finish it but the thought of not finishing what I started haunted me.
Then I wrote another plan....to finish the draft before the deadline...I broke it down, writing on paper the number of words per day to write.
I was already behind so I doubled the amount of words...so I could meet up.
And I wrote on the paper,
"Just finish it, darling...you can do it".
Guess what?
On the day before the deadline, I finished the draft!
That day, we had no power so I couldn't charge my phone but I didn't care. I started typing...determined to finish the story and my battery went down...but I continued to type and I finished the story.
That was the only task I completed that day but it was the best feeling in the world to type 'The End'.
My point of this story?
Whatever I write on paper, I do it.
For the past 20 days, I've been using to-do lists on my phone...and the Habit app.
So far, it's been not-so-bad but not-so-good either.
This coming week, I will do more of daily task planning on paper.
And I've found out my why for my project so I'll set a deadline as well.
Let's see how it goes.
And I ended in another lazy day...meaning I didn't finish my set tasks on Habit.
Oh well! 😑
I know what's missing now.
I have a lot of settings to do....doesn't mean I'll stop using to-do lists on my phone...
I'll figure it out, Ami.
That's kinda the main reason for my challenge...to figure things out.
The real world, the online world, family, friendships...a lot of things.
And one thing I've kept doing is coming back to this blog.
To post my thoughts...good or bad...
My strong WHY is this: to come back to it months after the challenge is over....so I can remember how I felt...or feel....
I'm keeping it real, thinking out loud.
Till next time, Ami
PS: Remember that you're special in your own way, never let anyone make you think otherwise 👍
